VALS ROAD MAINTENANCE DEPOT

The Graubünden Civil Engineering Office commissioned us to complete these two maintenance buildings. The timber for the buildings comes from Surselva and was largely cut, dried and processed at our sawmill in Trun. The 14-by-2-metre truss girders for the roof, as well as the load-bearing wall elements, were prefabricated at our woodworking facility before being installed on location using a special crane.

The particular construction method, for which it was specified that only local timber was to be used, ensured optimum value creation for our region. All of the key processes – from the felling of trees, the transport of the logs, the stripping of the bark, the primary cutting and drying of the lumber to its processing for on-site construction and final assembly – were carried out entirely in the region.
